Coronal Mass Ejection
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Start Time: 2024-07-30T19:48Z ( SOHO: LASCO/C2 )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
SOHO: LASCO/C2
SOHO: LASCO/C3
STEREO A: SECCHI/COR2
Activity ID: 2024-07-30T19:48:00-CME-001 (version 1)
Source Location: S25E65
Active Region Number: 13772
Note Keyword:
FOV: Front Bright front; may be evidence of pileup
GAP: Data gap
Ha: Bright emission (likely H-alpha emission)
OFL: Outflowing material at the back of the CME
Source Signature Keyword:
FLR: Flare
PEA: Post eruption arcade
OFL: Moving/Opening field lines
BR: Brightening
DIM: Dimming
Morphology Keyword:
FS: Flux Rope and Shock Candidate
Note: Fast CME seen mainly in SOHO LASCO C2/C3, partially observed in STEREO COR2A due to a data gap spanning 2024-07-30T13:09Z-T22:38Z where it only catches some material leaving the FOV and not of the front itself. The source for this CME is an M9.4 flare from AR 3772 which peaked at 2024-07-30T19:38Z, observed best in SDO AIA 131 but also notably in SDO AIA 193! Also observed as brightening in SDO AIA 304, slight dimming in SDO AIA 193, and field line movement deflected southward in SDO AIA 171/193/211 and GOES SUVI 171/193/284. This deflection appears to push the CME out of the ecliptic despite the source located at S25 latitude.

Prime?"primary flag" which is either True or False. If there are multiple CME analysis entries for a single CME, this flag would indicate which analysis is considered most accurate per measurement type. This is a helpful flag if you would like to download only one most accurate CME analysis per CME per Measurement Type

CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG LE true SWPC_CAT -65.0 -58.0 1124.0 O 34.0 2024-07-30T22:57Z Preliminary measurement made using the source region of AR 3772 (S25E65) as the source, noting the observed southward deflection in SDO imagery. Only uses SOHO LASCO C2/C3 due to a data gap in STEREO COR2A that misses the front entirely. COR2A does see the material late in the FOV, though, and somewhat complicates triangulating the proper lat/lon of this CME. Further analysis may follow, but this may also be final. CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG LE true SWPC_CAT -90.0 -58.0 1421.0 O 47.0 2024-07-30T22:03Z Preliminary measurement of the fainter, faster, wider bulk of this CME. Only SOHO LASCO C2/C3 imagery was available for this measurement due to a data gap, so this measurement of the shock is approximate. 1: Result 1 (2.0 AU)
2: Result 2 (5.5 AU)
